The big idea

Students build a personal revision system: break a chapter into concepts, generate flashcards and quizzes, and schedule the reviews across days rather than cramming them into one evening.

Why it matters

Study technique compounds across every subject. This module can improve results in classes that have nothing to do with AI.

Unpacked

What you will actually learn

Three core ideas, each taught with worked examples and then practised until it feels obvious.

01

Concept breakdown

Concept breakdown splits a chapter into individually testable pieces, revealing which specific parts are actually shaky.

02

Flashcards and quizzes

Flashcards and quizzes force recall, which is what builds durable memory — recognising an answer is not the same as remembering it.

03

Revision planning

Revision planning spreads practice over days. Spaced repetition beats one long session, reliably and by a wide margin.

Did you know?

Hermann Ebbinghaus mapped the forgetting curve in the 1880s using nonsense syllables on himself. Spaced repetition still relies on his findings.

Common mix-up

“Highlighting is studying.” Research repeatedly ranks it among the least effective techniques. Self-testing ranks among the best.

Your 8-session journey

Sessions 2532 of the 72-session year, at two one-hour sessions per week.

  1. 1

    Warm-up and big picture

Where this module fits, what you will build, and a hands-on starter that gets everyone curious about concept breakdown.

  2. 2

    Concept breakdown

Guided teaching on concept breakdown, worked through together with the teacher.

  3. 3

    Concept breakdown — practice lab

Independent practice, small challenges and one deliberate mistake to diagnose.

  4. 4

    Flashcards and quizzes

Guided teaching on flashcards and quizzes, building directly on the previous two sessions.

  5. 5

Flashcards and quizzes — practice lab

Applied tasks that combine concept breakdown and flashcards and quizzes in one piece of work.

  6. 6

    Revision planning

Revision planning introduced and practised, completing the toolkit needed for the project.

  7. 7

    Project build

Guided build session for the module project: Seven-day AI-supported revision system.

  8. 8

    Test, present and reflect

Finish, test against the checklist, present the work and explain the decisions behind it.

Project lab

Seven-day AI-supported revision system

Every module ends with something the student built themselves and can demonstrate. This is the piece that goes into their portfolio and gets explained out loud at the end of session 32.

Try this at home

Build a seven-day revision plan for a real upcoming test, follow it exactly, and compare how prepared you feel to last time.

It is finished when

  • It works from start to finish without breaking
  • You can explain every part of it in your own words
  • You tested it and improved at least one thing afterwards
  • Someone else used or understood it without your help

By the end of this module

Students finishing Module 4 can:

  • Explain and use concept breakdown without prompting
  • Explain and use flashcards and quizzes without prompting
  • Explain and use revision planning without prompting
  • Build and finish seven-day ai-supported revision system
  • Test your own work and correct what you find
  • Talk an adult through what you made and why

The vocabulary introduced here, in plain language:

spaced repetition
Reviewing material at increasing intervals.
