Exam-depth concepts
Every board topic taken to the depth the competitive pattern assumes.
- Board topics to competitive depth
- Standard results derived, not given
- Common exam traps identified
Exam-pattern physics, chemistry and maths, objective technique and timed practice — with the board syllabus fully covered alongside, not sacrificed.
Maths, physics and chemistry taught to exam depth, with a weekly test and a proper review of what went wrong. The school syllabus is covered in full alongside — not sacrificed.
JEE Foundation classes prepare students for future engineering-entrance study by teaching maths, physics and chemistry to exam depth, with objective-pattern practice and regular testing. At Brolly Juniors in Hyderabad, JEE Foundation runs for Classes 9 and 10 — two years — while the board syllabus is covered in full so school performance does not slip.
Please read Brolly Juniors is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the National Testing Agency, JEE, or any Indian Institute of Technology. We do not promise ranks, marks, selection or admission of any kind. This is a school-level foundation programme, not entrance coaching.
Brolly Juniors runs JEE Foundation classes in Hyderabad for Classes 9 and 10. Physics, chemistry and mathematics are taught to exam depth with objective-pattern practice and a weekly test, while the board syllabus is covered in full so school performance does not slip during the two preparation years.
Every student logs what they got wrong and why. Reviewing that log is worth more than sitting another test.
Class 9 and Class 10. We do not start this in Class 6, because that reliably produces tired students, not prepared ones.
School marks are not traded away for exam practice. Both are covered across the two years.
Test results go to the family. Students are never ranked publicly in front of the class.
JEE Foundation is Class 9 and 10 maths, physics and chemistry taught to the depth that competitive papers assume — plus the technique those papers reward.
School teaches a topic to the level the board paper needs. A competitive paper asks the same topic in a different shape: multiple choice, a time limit, and a wrong answer that costs you marks.
Easy example: school asks you to solve an equation and show your working. A competitive paper gives you four options and ninety seconds. Sometimes the fastest route is not solving it at all — it is testing which option fits. That is a separate skill, and it has to be taught.
At Brolly Juniors this runs across two years, Class 9 and Class 10. The aim is a student who arrives in Class 11 able to learn quickly — not one who has already seen Class 11 material badly.
Not to start the race early. To make sure the base is solid before the workload rises in Class 11.
Class 11 physics and maths quietly assume you understood Class 9 and 10 properly. Gaps hidden by memorising show up immediately.
Handling multiple choice, eliminating options, deciding when to skip — none of this is taught in school, and none of it can be learned overnight.
Even if your child later chooses medicine, commerce or design, the reasoning and accuracy built here transfer to any exam.
The purpose of these two years is a student who arrives in Class 11 able to learn fast, not one who has already seen Class 11 badly.
Every board topic taken to the depth the competitive pattern assumes.
Graded problem sets weekly, from routine through to genuinely difficult.
MCQ strategy, elimination, approximation and managing negative marking.
A test every week, and — the part that matters — a proper review of what went wrong.
These are two separate programmes and choosing between them matters. IIT Foundation is the broader, depth-first option running across Classes 8 to 10. JEE Foundation is more exam-shaped, runs across Classes 9 and 10, and suits students who have already settled on the engineering route.
| JEE Foundation | IIT Foundation | |
|---|---|---|
| Classes | 9 and 10 (two years) | 8, 9 and 10 (three years) |
| Shape of work | Exam-shaped. Objective pattern, timed practice, weekly test. | Depth-first. Concept clarity and reasoning. |
| Signature method | The per-student error log, reviewed fortnightly. | Beyond-syllabus depth in board topics. |
| Best for | Students already set on the engineering-entrance route. | Students who want stronger foundations but have not fixed on one exam. |
| Still unsure? | Choose IIT Foundation. It keeps more doors open, and moving across later is straightforward. |
This is the section most centres leave out. It matters, so please read it before enrolling anywhere.
| JEE Foundation (this programme) | Full JEE coaching | |
|---|---|---|
| When | Classes 9 and 10 | Classes 11 and 12, usually |
| Syllabus | Class 9 and 10 syllabus, taken deeper | Class 11 and 12 syllabus at entrance depth |
| Purpose | Build the base and the technique | Prepare directly for the entrance exam |
| Hours | Reasonable, alongside school | Typically much heavier |
| What it is not | Foundation is not entrance coaching, and it does not replace it. It is preparation for being able to do that work well later. |
An honest word on timing Two years of foundation is enough. Starting in Class 6 does not help and frequently harms — students arrive at Class 11 already tired of the material. If your child is younger, IIT Foundation, Olympiad Foundation or simply strong maths and science tuition is the better use of the time.
Every board topic taken to the depth the competitive pattern assumes. Standard results are derived rather than handed over, and common exam traps are pointed out.
Graded problem sets each week, from routine through to genuinely difficult. Full solutions are discussed in class rather than distributed as a sheet.
Multiple-choice strategy: elimination, approximation, deciding when to skip a question, and managing negative marking sensibly.
A timed objective test every week, followed by the part that actually matters — an individual review of what went wrong and why.
Most students who plateau are not lazy. They are repeating the same mistake without noticing it is the same mistake.
So every student keeps a log of what they got wrong and, more importantly, why. Every error goes into one of three buckets:
These three need completely different fixes. A concept gap needs re-teaching. A careless slip needs a checking habit. A time problem needs question selection. Marking all three simply "wrong" tells a student nothing.
Readiness matters more than age. Two students in the same class can be at very different stages, and that is normal.
| Class | Usual age | Main focus | What good progress looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 9 | About 14 | Exam-depth concepts. Objective technique introduced. Weekly tests begin. | Completes a graded problem set with correct method, not guesswork. |
| Class 10 | About 15 | Harder problem sets, board preparation, timed accuracy and error elimination. | Tracks and removes a repeated error type; enters Class 11 able to learn fast. |
Younger children JEE Foundation at Brolly Juniors begins in Class 9. For younger students the better fits are IIT Foundation (Classes 8–10), Olympiad Foundation (Classes 4–10), Mental Maths or Problem Solving. We do not recommend beginning entrance-shaped preparation in primary or middle school.
Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, coordinate basics, sequences and numerical thinking — taught so the method can be chosen, not recalled.
Motion, force, work and energy, light, sound, electricity and magnetism — always with the numbers attached, because physics without calculation is only half the subject.
Matter, atomic structure, the periodic table as a readable pattern, chemical reactions, acids and bases, and the mole concept introduced carefully.
Safety Sessions use demonstrations, models and worked examples. Students are not asked to handle hazardous chemicals, mains electricity or open flames, and no experiment is set as unsupervised homework. Anything involving heat, electricity or chemicals is a supervised demonstration only.
These three are taught together because in a competitive paper they behave like one subject wearing three costumes.
A physics problem is usually a maths problem with a story attached. Weak algebra shows up as "weak physics" long before anyone notices the real cause.
Why electrons sit where they do, why bonds form, why reactions release heat — the reasons are physical, not something to memorise separately.
The mole concept, concentration and stoichiometry are arithmetic in a lab coat. Students comfortable with ratio handle them easily.
This is also why we do not let a student quietly avoid one subject. A gap in maths will surface as a physics problem two months later, and the error log is what makes that visible.
Logical thinking is working out what must be true from what you already know.
Problem solving is what you do when you do not know the next step.
A concept question checks whether the idea was understood, not whether the formula was remembered.
An application question puts a familiar idea somewhere unfamiliar.
This runs alongside school, not instead of it.
| Aspect | School learning | JEE Foundation learning |
|---|---|---|
| Question format | Mostly written, with working shown | Objective format added, with a time limit |
| Depth | To the level the board paper needs | To the depth competitive papers assume |
| Wrong answers | Marked and moved on from | Logged, categorised and revisited |
| Speed | Rarely a limiting factor | Trained deliberately, after accuracy |
| Goal | Pass the board exam well | Pass the board exam well and build competitive technique |
A real objective-technique question. You should not need to calculate much — that is the point.
JEE Foundation at Brolly Juniors is for which classes?
Question 1 of 4 — Choose one answer.
A student does not need to be a topper to begin. They need to be in Class 9 or 10, reasonably steady with school maths and science, and willing to be told honestly what went wrong.
New students usually find two things unfamiliar at first: questions with a clock attached, and the idea that a wrong answer is useful information rather than a failure.
If your child is currently struggling with the school syllabus itself, start with regular maths tuition, physics or chemistry tuition. Foundation work sits on top of a stable base, never instead of one — and we will say so plainly after the demo.
Four short questions on the ideas covered on this page.

Our commitment Brolly Juniors does not promise marks, ranks, selection or admission. No centre can honestly guarantee those, and you should be cautious of any that does. What we commit to is clear teaching, a sensible pace, small batches and truthful feedback about your child's progress.
Tell us your child's class and what they enjoy. We will suggest the closest fit — with no pressure and no upfront payment.
Three short questions on last week's topic. It shows instantly who needs a second pass before anything new begins.
The idea is built and the standard result derived, not simply written on the board. Students are asked to explain it back.
Routine questions first, then harder ones. The difficulty rises deliberately so nobody is thrown in at the deep end.
The same questions revisited in objective form — where elimination or approximation is faster than solving in full.
Mistakes sorted into concept, careless or time, and added to the log. This is where the actual learning is banked.
Guess the answer's size before calculating. Builds the instinct that catches an answer that is wildly wrong.
A physics demonstration paused before the result. Everyone writes a prediction first, then it runs.
Students are shown a question and asked to find the wrong option most people would fall for, and explain why.
Teach the topic to the class in ninety seconds. Gaps in understanding surface immediately.
Students bring their logged mistakes and work out which of the three causes each one really was.
Short bursts of questions against the clock, introduced only after accuracy is steady.
STEM connection The reasoning built here carries directly into coding, robotics and AI for kids. Breaking a problem into steps is the same skill whether the answer is written on paper or typed into an editor.
No rank predictions, no six-hour Sunday marathons, no starting this in Class 6. Early pressure produces tired students, not prepared ones.
The per-student error log, reviewed fortnightly, is the core of the method rather than an add-on.
Weekly test results are shared with the family and never ranked publicly in front of the class.
Batches are kept small so every student is seen and heard. Ask us for the current batch size for your child's class.
The school syllabus is covered in full throughout both years, not squeezed out by exam practice.
If IIT Foundation or plain subject tuition suits your child better, we will tell you — even though it means a smaller enrolment for us.
Trainers and mentors Sessions are taken by Brolly Juniors educators. For current trainer details, qualifications and who will be teaching your child's batch, contact Brolly Juniors on 9542344555. We publish trainer information only where it can be verified, so you will not find invented profiles or claimed past results on this page.
We share these directly, so what you get is current and specific to your child rather than a number that may not apply.
